The body of a man has been recovered from the River Dodder in the Rathfarnham area of Dublin.

A passer-by spotted the body in the river at around 10am and alerted gardaí.

The body was removed from the river with the assistance of Dublin Fire Brigade.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out tomorrow.

The scene has been preserved and an investigation is ongoing.
