A 31-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 28-year-old woman in Co Kilkenny last Sunday.
Rita Apine was discovered at the bottom of the stairs of her terraced house in Bridge St, Freshford.
She was treated at the scene by paramedics but died later in hospital.
Renãrs Veigulis, 31, with an address at Bridge St, Freshford, Kilkenny, was brought before a special sitting of Kilkenny District Court charged with her murder.
Detective Sergeant Sean O'Meara gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
He told the court when he handed the defendant the charge sheet he replied: "No."
An application was made for legal aid which was granted.
Judge Colin Daly remanded him in custody to appear again in Clover Hill District Court on Friday.
