A cyclist has died following in a collision with a tractor in Killarney, Co Kerry.

The woman, who was in her 40s and from the area, was cycling with a group when she was involved in a collision with a tractor on the by-pass in Killarney at the junction with Lewis Road at around 7pm.

The tractor was towing agricultural equipment.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road has been closed for a forensic investigation. Gardaí say it will remain closed overnight.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted on the woman's body at University Hospital Kerry in Tralee.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to come forward.
