Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Noel Kirwan in west Dublin in December last year.

Mr Kirwan, 62, was in his car when a gunman shot him in the head at the St Ronan's Drive housing estate in Clondalkin on 22 December.

The gunman was driven away in a white Peugeot van which was found burnt-out near the scene of the shooting.

Gardaí suspect that Mr Kirwan, who was a friend of Gerry Hutch, was a victim of the ongoing feud between the Hutch and Kinahan crime gangs.

A man and a woman, both in their 20s, were arrested in north Co Dublin this morning.

They are being held at Lucan and Blanchardstown Garda Stations.
