A 62-year-old man has been charged with the murder of farmer Anthony O'Mahony at Rattoo, Ballyduff, Co Kerry.
Michael Ferris of Rattoo, Ballyduff, was brought before a sitting of Tralee District Court this morning from Listowel Garda Station where he had been held since his arrest.
He was charged with the murder of the 74-year-old yesterday.
Det Sgt John Heaslip of Listowel Garda Station told the court that when arrested, charged and cautioned, Mr Ferris made no reply.
Mr Ferris' solicitor Risteard Pearce told the court that there would be a bail application in the near future.
He also asked that his client receive all appropriate medical care while in prison.
Judge James O'Connor made this recommendation and remanded Mr Ferris in custody to appear again before the district court next Wednesday.
