Ahead of the Chinese New Year tomorrow, the Dublin Chinese New Year Festival has been launched in the capital.

The two-week festival celebrates the Year of the Fire Rooster.

The launch took place in Templebar's Meeting House Square.

The festival is designed to celebrate Chinese culture and to enhance relations between Ireland and China and will include food trails, cultural nights and musical events.

Well-known buildings around Dublin including the The Mansion House, City Hall and the Civic Offices will be illuminated in red light to mark the Chinese New Year.
