Teenage boy found dead in Cork home

An investigation is under way after a 16-year-old boy died in Cork city.

Emergency services were contacted when the boy was found dead at his home at Deermount just after 10am today.

Ambulance personnel and a doctor attended the scene and the boy was pronounced dead.

Gardaí are currently at the boy’s home. A garda spokesman told RTÉ News they are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the boy's death.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
