A 39-year-old man has been sent forward for trial in relation to the alleged manslaughter of his infant son in 2013.
John Tighe, with an address at Lavallyroe, Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo was brought before the District Court in Castlebar today.
He faces one charge of unlawful killing on 1 June 2013 and a second charge of wilful neglect on the same date.
Mr Tighe was served with the Book of Evidence earlier this week but he was not formally sent forward for trial until today, due to an issue with an independent surety of €2,000.
Those difficulties have now been resolved and the accused has been remanded on bail, subject to a number of conditions.
