Two women have died in separate road crashes in counties Cork and Meath.

In Cork, a woman in her 60s was seriously injured when the car she was passenger in was involved in a two-car collision this afternoon.

The collision occurred at Skew Bridge, Tivoli. The woman was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Four other people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Gardai have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Mayfield Garda Station on 021-4558510.

In Meath, a 25-year-old woman died after the car in which she was a passenger was involved in a head-on crash with a second car at Blackwater Bridge in Enfield.

The incident happened at 9.15pm last night. The woman was taken to Connolly Hospital in Dublin where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was also taken to Connolly Hospital where his injuries are said to be serious.

A woman in her 30s, travelling alone in the second car, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, where her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
