Dublin Zoo has confirmed that Harry, one of its most loved attractions, has died.

The Western lowland gorilla was the leader of the zoo's gorilla troop.

He was 29 and fathered six offspring during his time there.

On the zoo’s Facebook page, Harry was described as a "very gentle and calm gorilla". 

It also said that he will be "greatly missed by everyone at Dublin Zoo".

The reason for the Harry’s death is unknown and Dublin Zoo said that it is awaiting the final results of a post-mortem examination.
