Luas operator Transdev has described today's meeting with three of their four grades on the current pay dispute as positive.

The company today met SIPTU representatives of the Revenue Protection officers, Revenue Protection Supervisors and Traffic Supervisors to clarify certain issues with regard to a revised pay offer submitted to them last week by management.

Further meetings are planned over the next 48 hours.

Managing Director Gerry Madden described the encounter as a "positive engagement".

Transdev was due to meet the key driver grade tomorrow but due to scheduling difficulties that meeting has been postponed until Monday at 2pm.

SIPTU has called off this weekend's planned two-day strike to allow negotiations to proceed, but a further six days of strike action are still set to go ahead if the dispute is not resolved.

The union has also warned that it may proceed with a ballot for an all out strike if Transdev proceeds with measures including short time, layoffs and pay deductions.

It will hold two general meetings of Luas workers in Liberty Hall tomorrow and on Thursday.
