Major rail crash training exercise in Dublin

A large scale Civil Defence exercise has taken place in the railway tunnel under the Phoenix Park in Dublin.

The exercise scenario involved a crashed passenger train with 70 passengers on board.

Members of the Irish Red Cross and 200 Civil Defence personnel tested their abilities to deal with the situation.

The exercise was observed by representatives from the Department of Defence, An Garda Síochana and the Health Service Executive.
