Man dies in Naas workplace incident

Two investigations are under way following the death of an employee at the Green Isle Food factory in Naas, Co Kildare, last night.

The man, who was 42, sustained fatal crush injuries in an accident involving machinery around 8.30pm.

He was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The factory is closed until further notice, pending the investigations into the man's death.

The factory would normally operate on a 24-hour basis.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are both investigating the incident.

In a statement, Green Isle Foods expressed its sympathies to the man’s family.

It said it is "co-operating fully with the relevant authorities as they conduct their investigations into this tragic incident".
