A man in his 40s has died following a light aircraft crash in Abbeyshrule, Co Longford, this evening.
It is understood the single-person aircraft went down near the airfield at around 5.30pm this evening.
Gardaí, the Air Corps and the Ambulance Service attended the scene.
A team from the air accident investigation unit have been informed of the incident.
