An investigation is under way after a man was electrocuted while cutting hedges in Co Limerick this afternoon.

It is understood the man was cutting hedges in the Athea area at around 1pm when he came in contact with electrical power lines.

He died at the scene.

The scene is being preserved for a technical examination. However, the man’s death is being treated as an accident.

The Health and Safety Authority has been notified.

It is understood the man was a member of the travelling community from Co Kerry.
