A 63-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle in Durrus, Co Cork.  

The incident happened on the Kilcrohane Road at approximately 1.55am.

The man was treated at the scene where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The man’s body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

The road is currently closed to traffic and diversions are in place.

Meanwhile a number of people have been injured following a three car collision on the M7 northbound between Toomevara, Co Tipperary and Moneygall, Co Offaly.

The motorway is closed to traffic and local diversions are in place.

Its understood the injuries are not life threatening.
