A body has been found during the search for a missing man in Co Clare.

The body of a man was recovered from flooded lands at around 2.20pm by members of Clare Civil Defence.

The body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Gardaí said they are not treating the death as suspicious.

A massive search had been under way for a man not seen since Wednesday.

Gardaí and members of Clare Civil Defence were joined by the Shannon-based Coast Guard helicopter for the search.

Volunteers from the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard also travelled to the area while dozens of locals searched fields and country roads.
