The funeral of Orla Curry, one of three people killed in a car crash in Co Laois at the weekend, has taken place.

Family, friends and neighbours turned out at St Canice's Church in Clough, Co Laois to support her parents, Peter and Anne, who lost their only child in Sunday morning's crash near Rathdowney.

In his homily, Fr Noel Maher noted that death after an accident is the greatest shock of all. "We find ourselves speechless in the face of this tragedy," he stated.

Louise, a cousin of Ms Curry, spoke of "a beautiful young woman, still a girl really at the start of her adult life.

"She was the centre of her parents' life, and brought love, happiness and fun into their lives.

"She had a love of animals, and life on the farm, and a passion for cars and engines. Her life's ambition was to be a rally driver."

A guard of honour was provided by the local camogie club.

Ms Curry, 20, was the second victim of Sunday's crash to be buried, following Angela Kelly's funeral yesterday.

The funeral of the third victim, Martin Brophy will take place tomorrow in Rathdowney.
