The last surviving soldier to have received an amnesty after leaving the Defence Forces to fight in World War II has died in Dublin.

Phil Farrington was 94 years old.

He had left the Defence Forces and joined the British Army during World War II.

He was involved in the liberation of the Belsen concentration camp.
