A 25-year-old man has died in a road crash in Co Meath, while a man in his 80s has died in a crash in Co Cork.

The single-vehicle crash happened at Dunheeda, on the main Kingscourt to Drumconrath road, at around 12.30am.

The man was seriously injured and was taken to Our Lady's Hospital Navan where he was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí have appealed to witnesses to contact Navan Garda Station on 046-9036100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any garda station.

Elsewhere, gardaí in Glanmire, Co Cork are investigating a crash in which a man in his 80s was fatally injured.

The man died when his car crashed at Ballinagoul, Knockraha, at about 2.30pm.

The man, who was travelling alone, was declared dead at the scene.

His body has been transferred to Cork University Hospital.
