An elderly woman has died in a fire at her home in Co Clare.
The alarm was raised at around 1.30am when the fire was reported at the rear of a house at Firgrove in the Hurler's Cross area of Shannon.
Fire crews discovered the body of a woman, believed to be in her 70s, during their search of the house.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out on the woman's body at University Hospital Limerick.
