A man in his 40s has died and two others have been seriously injured in a two-car collision near Mallow in Co Cork.
The crash happened on the N20 between Buttevant and Mallow at 6.40pm this evening.
The man who died was a passenger in a car that was being driven in the Limerick direction.
The driver of one of the cars was taken to University Hospital Limerick, while the driver of the other car is being treated in Cork University Hospital.
The road has been closed and is likely to remain closed until tomorrow morning, pending an examination by garda forensic road crash experts.
Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Gardaí in Mallow are appealing to motorists who were travelling on that road around the time of the collision to contact them on 022-31450.
