Former Fianna Fáil councillor Gary O'Flynn has been remanded in custody after he was found guilty of 13 counts of deception.

O'Flynn, 38, with an address at Hayfield Drive, Castle Court, Whitechurch, Co Cork, will be sentenced on 26 June.

He was a Fianna Fáil member of Cork City Council.

He is a solicitor and financial advisor and son of former Fianna Fáil TD Noel O'Flynn.

An application for bail pending sentence so that O'Flynn could put his affairs in order and that reports could be prepared on him was refused.

Refusing the application Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin said reports on him could be obtained when he was in jail.

At Cork Circuit Criminal Court, the jury of eight men and four women reached unanimous verdicts of guilty on 13 counts related to complaints made by former builder Eric Higgins.

O'Flynn pleaded not guilty to 21 sample charges at the outset of the trial last week.
