Bus Éireann documents to be passed onto gardaíWednesday 07 May 2014 21.46
Documents presented by Bus Éireann to an Oireachtas Committee are to be passed onto the Garda Síochana for investigation.
The Committee on Transport and Communications made the decision to pass the information to the gardaí at a meeting this afternoon.
In a statement, the committee revealed that they had received documents from Bus Éireann in recent weeks.
'These documents contain serious allegations against individuals both within Bus Éireann and bus operators who dealt with Bus Éireann,' the statement said.
Having taken legal advice the committee decided to refer the documents to the gardaí.
“The substance of the allegations contained in these documents fall outside the committee's remit and could potentially involve criminal wrong-doing.
“In that regard, the committee has agreed to refer the matter to the appropriate authority for such issues, which in this case is An Garda Síochána,” the statement concluded.
