Two killed in Co Kerry road crash

A man and a woman in their 20s have been killed in a road crash at Cloon in Co Kerry.

They were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with a truck on the Cahirsiveen to Ballinskelligs road at 12.25pm.

They were pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies have been taken to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee.

It is understood they were tourists from the UK.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact Cahirsiveen Garda Station on 066-9473600.

Elsewhere, a 20-year-old man died in a road crash in Co Kildare yesterday evening.

The man was a back-seat passenger in a car that hit a tree at Hawkfield on the Newbridge to Milltown road at around 7pm.

No other vehicles were involved.

Two other men in the car were injured in the collision and taken to Naas General Hospital.
