A boy in his mid-teens has died after he sustained serious head injuries following a fall from a tractor in north Cork.

The boy was a passenger on a tractor drawing a load of silage on the Kilavullen to Glenville Road when he fell from the tractor at 6.45pm yesterday evening.

The teenager was airlifted by helicopter to Cork University Hospital but died there late last night from his injuries.

The driver of the tractor was uninjured but was treated for shock.
