A private bus, carrying about 30 children, went on fire in Cork city this morning.

The incident happened just outside the Jack Lynch Tunnel at about 10.15am.

All children and the bus driver got out safely. Another bus has since picked up the children.

The engine fire has been brought under control.

The southbound lane of the tunnel was closed for a period, but has reopened.
