A man in his 50s has died after a workplace accident at University College Cork this afternoon.
The UCC employee was among a group operating a mobile cherry picker when the incident occurred at around 4pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cork University Hospital.
A post mortem examination will be conducted later.
A spokeswoman for the university said it is cooperating with the Health & Safety Authority and gardaí.
The spokeswoman said the college was deeply saddened by the accident and extended its sympathies to the man's family.
