A former public representative who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder has had his period of detention extended.
The man was brought before a special sitting of the District Court at around 9am.
Judge Olan Kelleher granted a garda application to extend the man's detention by a further 72 hours.
The man was then returned to a Garda station in Cork city where he's being detained, in order to continue his questioning.
