A meeting in London between Taoiseach Enda Kenny and 15 Magdalene survivors has been described by the women as warm and significant.

Speaking after the meeting, which lasted two-and-a-half hours, the women said Mr Kenny was very sensitive to their personal stories and they are expecting a wholesome and heartfelt apology next week.

Compensation details were not discussed, although the women did raise the issue of a financial settlement with him.

Justice Minister Alan Shatter and Minister of State Kathleen Lynch also attended the meeting.
