Two men charged in connection with Michael Kelly murder in Dublin

Two men have been charged in connection with the murder of the Michael Kelly, who was shot dead in September last year.

Vincent Ryan, 22, of Grange Avenue Drive in Donaghmede in Dublin and Darragh Evans, 23, from Grange Park Rise in Raheny appeared at the Special Criminal Court today.

They were both charged with possession of an assault rifle and a revolver on 15 September 2011, the day the 35-year-old father-of-three was shot dead on Marsfield Avenue in Clongriffin.

Detective Garda Brendan Mears told the court that neither man made any reply to the charges.

The two men were already before the courts charged with membership of the IRA.

Another man, Nathan Kinsella, 33, from Matt Talbot Court in Dublin was also charged with IRA membership.

All three were remanded in custody until 3 October.

Mr Ryan is a brother of Alan Ryan, the dissident republican who was shot dead in Dublin earlier this month.

The three men were arrested as part of a garda investigation following the 32-year-old's funeral two weeks ago.
