Investigation into deadly Co Offaly crash

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses as part of an investigation into yesterday evening’s fatal road crash in Co Offaly in which three brothers and another man were killed.

The four were travelling in a Honda Civic car that collided with a minibus, about 2km from Tullamore, on the Geashill Road at around 5.05pm.

The three brothers and a friend were pronounced dead at the scene.

The dead men have been named as brothers Darren, 27, David, 24, and Ryan Doyle, 17, from Na Cluainte in Portarlington, Co Laois.

Their friend, Lee Bryan, 24, from the same estate was driving the car when the crash happened.

Three people who were travelling on the minibus were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardaí say they are liaising with the families of the victims who they say are "completely distraught".

Gardaí in Tullamore are appealing for information about the movements of a maroon Honda Civic prior to the crash.

Inspector Kieran Keyes said while appealing for witnesses to the accident, that all involved in the case wished to offer their condolences to the families of the victims.
