An investigation has been launched into the death of a 51-year-old woman in Co Kilkenny.
The woman was found seriously injured in the yard of her family home in Kilfane near Thomastown this afternoon.
She was taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny and later died in an ambulance as she was being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
The scene at Thomastown has been preserved for a forensic examination.
The State Pathologist's office has been notified and a post mortem is expected to take place tomorrow.
