A woman in her 50s has died and three others have been seriously injured after a collision in Co Kildare this afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 4.30pm on the Kilcullen to Athy Road (R418).

The 59-year-old woman died when her car was involved in a crash with an SUV.

Her 16-year daughter, who had been travelling in the front passenger seat, was seriously injured, as were the male driver of the SUV and his female front passenger.

The man is reported to in his 30s, while the woman is in her 20s.

All the victims have been taken to Naas General Hospital.

The road between Fontstown Cross and Kilmeade Village has been closed and diversions are in place.

Two pedestrians killed in separate incidents

Two pedestrians have died in separate incidents in counties Westmeath and Limerick.

A pedestrian was knocked down and killed on the N4 just outside Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

The young man was knocked down at around 4.45am. He has been named as 23-year-old Aaron Moore from Celbridge, Co Kildare.

Gardaí in Mullingar are investigating and traffic diversions are in place.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Limerick city are investigating a road incident in which a man in his late 60s was killed.

The man died after being hit by a car at Dooradoyle yesterday evening. He has been named as Michael Doran, 69, from Templemore, Co Tipperary.
