Gardaí in Dublin are investigating a fire close to the Priory Hall apartment complex in Donaghmede.

The complex was recently evacuated because of fire safety concerns.

The single-story dwelling at Beau Park Square was destroyed.

Nine fire units attended the scene. It is not known if the property was occupied. The alarm was raised at 3.15am this morning.

More than 100 residents who moved out of the complex have held a protest meeting outside their homes.

Many of the residents say they have no confidence that remedial work being carried out at the complex will be completed properly and they say they never want to live there again.
