Boy airlifted from Kerry mountain

A boy has been airlifted from Carrauntoohil in Co Kerry after he suffered a leg injury while climbing the mountain with his family.

The 12-year-old boy was given first aid by members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue team before being taken by coastguard helicopter to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee.

His injuries are not life threatening.

It is the eighth callout for members of the mountain rescue team in the past six week.
