President of the Olympic Council of Ireland Pat Hickey has said he is very confident the Olympic torch relay for next year’s London games is going to happen south of the border.

A spokesperson for the OCI has said the plan is that there will be a cross-border ceremony: with a torch relay around the city of Dublin.

It is expected that there will be a maximum of about 60 torch-holders - representing the whole of the Irish community including athletes, under-privileged people and paralympic athletes.

The OCI is expecting official confirmation of the relay here within a month.
