Mountain rescue team called for in Kerry

The Kerry Mountain Rescue Team has been called to assist in the rescue of a woman who sustained a suspected broken ankle during a hike in the Macgillycuddy's Reeks.

The woman is trapped on a high ridge where rescuers are currently attending to her.

Spokesperson for the Kerry Mountain Rescue team Damien Courtney says a stretchered evacuation will take place as the rescue helicopter cannot gain access to the ridge.
