Detectives are treating a hit-and-run in Northern Ireland as attempted murder.

They have appealed for the public to help them find the driver who struck a 36-year-old man in Coalisland, Co Tyrone, yesterday.

The victim, who was knocked down on Gortgonis Road at around 10.30am, was seriously injured.

Police said they are trying to track a silver Vauxhall Corsa with the registration plate NHZ 6376.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokeswoman said the car would have obvious damage.

They have appealed for the driver to contact them.

They have also asked for anyone who can help them to find the car and its driver to get in touch.
