Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a man's body in Co Clare this evening.

The body is believed to be that of a man missing from Ennis for almost three weeks however a formal identification has not yet taken place.

The discovery was made at about 7pm at a house on Lifford Road in the town.

The Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis visited the scene this evening before the body was removed to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.

A post-mortem examination will be carried in the morning to determine how and when the man died.

Gardaí say they are keeping an open mind on the death until the post mortem has been concluded.
