A fire broke out above a restaurant in Dublin city centre in the early hours of this morning.

Fire fighters rescued four people from apartments above Eddie Rocket's Diner in Wexford Street.

The alarm was raised shortly after 4am this morning. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Gardaí say there were a lot of people in area at the time but no-one was injured.

It is understood some of those rescued from the apartments were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
