A man died this afternoon in a fire at a flat in Castlebar, Co Mayo.
Firemen reached the scene at Rush Street at approximately 4.40pm and found the victim dead in the bedroom of his flat.
There was extensive fire and smoke damage to the flat's sitting room area.
The man was 33 years old and is described as a local.
Gardaí are not treating the death as suspicious.
The body has been removed to Mayo General Hospital for a post mortem examination, which is expected to take place tomorrow.
Gardaí are carrying out a forensic examination of the scene.
