The Minister for Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation has insisted there was no shift in Ireland's position in relation to our corporation tax rate.

Richard Bruton said as our corporate tax rate of 12.5% was 'a red line issue’.

Speaking on RTÉ's This Week, he said it was 'not only crucial for Ireland but it was crucial for Europe', if Europe wants to see Ireland have an export-led recovery.

The comments follow calls yesterday from Germany's Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble for Ireland to make some gesture on corporate tax to avail of a reduction in the interest rate it pays for the EU/IMF bailout.

Mr Schaeuble was speaking to reporters at the end of a two-day informal meeting of EU finance ministers in Budapest.
