Two men have been questioned in connection with a fatal attack on a man outside a pharmacy in Ballymun on Thursday night.
Joseph Connolly, 48, of Knowth Court in Ballymun, was conscious when first taken to hospital but his condition worsened and he died at Beaumont Hospital yesterday afternoon.
A post mortem was carried out this afternoon.
The two men presented themselves at Ballymun Garda Station and are co-operating with the investigation.
Gardaí say they do not believe the attackers intended to kill the victim and have described the incident as sporadic.
They say it happened very quickly over something simple.
No arrests have been made but detectives say they are making significant progress.
