Snow has returned to parts of the country with Met Éireann warning that up to a 5cm fall is expected in midland areas and in parts of Munster and Leinster.
Snow began falling in Killarney and surrounding areas a short time ago. Kerry County Council has warned that a number of roads are impassable and have been closed.
These include Finnegans Cross to Coolick and the Moll's Gap Road between Killarney and Kenmare.
Spa Hill and Madams Hill in Killarney should be avoided.
A severe weather warning was issued earlier today, with outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow expected to spread from the south.
Heavy rain is also likely along southern and eastern coasts.
Gardaí have urged motorists to drive with caution as temperatures are expected to fall as low as -5C overnight with a severe frost and icy patches on untreated roads.
Meanwhile, Leeds Bradford International Airport was this afternoon forced to suspend flights due to adverse weather conditions. It has since reopened but there is ongoing disruption.
A statement on the airport's website said snow on the runway led to a temporary closure.
