Water update – 12.30pm
Cork City Council is happy to report significant progress in the restoration of the water supply in the city. There has been a reduction of over 50% in the areas that experienced restricted water supply. This can be attributed to the repair of leaks by Cork City Council staff and by members of the public who have repaired leaks and burst pipes on their own properties.
Normal supply and volumes have been restored to city centre premises which will ensure that businesses can trade as normal and that all can enjoy the New Year celebrations over the coming weekend. While the number of restricted areas has been reduced by 50%, some areas will continue to experience water restrictions over the coming days. Localised outages and restrictions will continue where major leaks are identified. These leaks will be attended to and repaired as quickly as possible by City Council staff on an ongoing basis. In order to maintain supplies, the City Council will continue night restrictions over a number of areas which have very high leakage levels. More information at Cork County Council website
Standpipes will continue to be available over the coming weekend.

Limerick County Council
Following a meeting of Limerick County Council's Crisis Management Team this morning it was decided that, due to some recovery in the level of water in reservoirs, night-time restrictions in service will not generally be necessary tonight 31st December or tomorrow Saturday night 1st January.
Exceptions to this general statement are the supplies at Hospital, Herbertstown, Galbally and Kilfinane, where reservoir levels have failed to recover sufficiently.
It is likely however that widespread night time restrictions may again be necessary from Sunday night.
In addition, due to breakages in water mains, unannounced disruptions to water supply can still be expected during daytime hours pending the repair of such breakages.
Customers should also be aware that those water users located at the extremity of water mains, or in elevated areas, are most likely to experience interruption to supply.
Property owners are again requested to inspect vacant/closed premises and address any leakage issues detected.
Limerick County Council is requesting all water users to continue to conserve water supplies during this recovery period.
Boil water notices continue to apply to the Abbeyfeale, Kilmallock and Newcastle West Water Supply Schemes.

The general situation has improved across the County as per update at 11am today.

The Council is repeating its appeal to householders, schools, business key holders and farmers to check unoccupied premises for leaks and have them repaired or turn off the supply.
We are appealing to people to conserve water for essential use and to report any leaks and water wastage to the Council.

Water Update – 11am
General
The general situation has improved following overnight restrictions in Navan and parts of East Meath.
The new reservoir at Dunshaughlin was brought on-line ahead of schedule yesterday and this has been of great benefit to Dunshaughlin and the surrounding areas.
Dunboyne generally has a supply but there may still be intermittent problems and Kilcloon is still experiencing problems of pressure and supply.
The level of demand remains high on all schemes and the Council is repeating its appeal to householders, schools, business key holders and farmers to check unoccupied premises for leaks and have them repaired or turn off the supply.
The Council has repaired approximately 60 leaks to date and has turned off water to approximately 20 unoccupied premises found to have leaking supplies.
Navan Town & Area
Overnight restrictions on supply from the Proudstown reservoir have resulted in improvement in supply.
Some outlying areas served by the town supply remain without water or at low pressure and efforts to repair leaks and improve pressure are continuing. These include: Dunderry, Boyerstown, Commons Road, Robinstown, Ongenstown, Oristown, Rosmeen, Fyanstown and Curraghtown.
Every effort is being made to restore supplies to these areas as soon as possible but we are still unable to give any assurances as to when supply will be restored.
Water tankers remain in place in Robinstown, Dunderry, Rosmeen, Fyanstown, Oristown, Boyerstown, Bohermeen, Ongenstown and Curraghtown and will be replenished as necessary.
Coill Foireann and Spire View estates and parts of Johnstown, which have been without water for the past few days should have some supply restored during today but residents are advised that problems with pressure and supply may re-occur as overall demand increases during the day. Tankers have been provided in the area.
At this stage it has been decided that there will be no restrictions on pressure or supply in Navan tonight. This is dependent on there being no further major problems arising during today.
Dunshaughlin Area
Supply has greatly improved across this area following overnight restrictions and the opening up of the new Dunshaughlin reservoir and most areas have supply. Some individual problems are persisting in higher areas of Ashbourne and a tanker has been provided at Race Hill. Ratoath supply is maintained.
Most areas of Dunboyne have supply today and the situation has improved in the last 24 hours. Tankers have been deployed to a number of estates and will be replenished as necessary. Residents are advised that the overall situation with Dunboyne remains uncertain and there may be further disruption.
Kilcloon continues to have problems with both pressure and supply. Water Tanks have been provided at Kilcloon and at the Hatchet Pub.
The recurring Dunboyne problems are being caused primarily because supply cannot consistently keep pace with current high demand and this is exacerbated by the ongoing problems in the general Dublin area.
Slane / East Meath Area
The general situation has continues to improve following overnight restrictions and all areas have supply. A decision will be made later today on the need for restrictions tonight.
Stamullen - supply is being maintained.
Slane village - demand from this scheme remains high but supply to the village and surrounding area is being maintained.
Supply to Beauparc is being maintained but low pressure may be experienced.
Trim Area
Supply is being maintained to Trim Town and immediate areas.
Longwood - demand continues to be in excess of normal levels and some areas may experience reduced pressure.
Supply to Kildalkey village has been maintained.
There is an ongoing problem with supply to Ballivor village and water is being tankered to the reservoir to help maintain supply to the area. Supply to Enfield is being maintained.
Kells Area
Supply is being maintained to Kells Town and immediate area although demand remains very high on this scheme.
Athboy supply continues to experience high demand but supply is being maintained.
Nobber & Kilmainhamwood & Drumconrath - demand has reduced somewhat in these areas and no major problems are reported at the moment.
Moynalty is fine but demand remains higher than usual.
Oldcastle - is experiencing very high demand but supply is being maintained. A tanker has been provided in the Ballinaclose Housing Scheme (near Kingscourt)
The Council's main switchboard 046-9097000 will remain open until 5pm this evening.

The supply has not been disconnected at night-time in Sligo town during this spell and the supply will again be maintained this evening.
In areas where the supply has to be restricted, this will be delayed as late as possible.
