Fine Gael has said it will vote against the €85bn EU-IMF rescue package when it comes before the Dáil for a vote on Wednesday.
Speaking on RTÉ's This Week programme Fine Gael's deputy finance spokesman, Brian Hayes has said his party disagreed with the terms of the package.
Government Chief Whip John Curran has called on Fine Gael to act in the national interest by backing next Wednesday's Dáil vote on the rescue package.
Mr Curran said any party voting against the funding package should explain where the money will come from to fund public services without this facility.
Meanwhile, Labour Spokesperson on Justice Pat Rabbitte has called on Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan to dismiss the board of AIB over the bonus payment.
Leo Varadkar, Fine Gael Spokesperson on Communications and Energy, has said the €40m bonuses for AIB staff related to 2008, the height of the period when reckless lending was occurring.
He said the bank should be questioning itself about why it should make these payments and whether they were earned on false pretences. Mr Varadkar suggested that AIB could also plead an inability to pay.
Sinn Féin Finance Spokesman Pearse Doherty said the Government should have made sure the AIB staff action was defended in the High Court and he insisted that the bonuses could be taxed.
Earlier, Speaking on RTÉ's This Week programme, Minister for Children Barry Andrews said that the Government would do what it could, within the law to prevent the bonus payments.
