The Cabinet has concluded its discussion on the Budget and the Estimates at a special meeting in Government Buildings tonight.
A further special meeting on the four-year economic plan is to be held tomorrow evening at 5.30pm.
No decisions are expected to be announced after either meeting.
Meanwhile, the Government is to publish most of the assumptions underlying the Budget, such as its growth forecast, later this week.
Opposition parties were briefed on some Budget information last week but complained that they were not given key information.
Exchequer returns for October show tax intake running slightly ahead of projections, driven by much stronger than expected corporation tax returns.
Earlier, Green Party Chairman Dan Boyle indicated that the date of the Budget may change.
In the Seanad today, Mr Boyle said 'as of now' the Budget has been pencilled in for 7 December, but said the definitive decision on the date has not yet been taken.
He also said that there has been no decision on whether it needs to be brought forward.
Senator Boyle said a cautious approach must be taken and asked for a certain amount of patience around the issue.
However, speaking in the Dáil, Taoiseach Brian Cowen told the Dáil that there had been no change in the Government's intention to have Budget Day on 7 December.
