Bulmers has announced that it is seeking 50 redundancies at its plant in Clonmel, Co Tipperary.
The company says the redundancies are part of a ‘cost reduction and reorganisation programme’.
The redundancies will be achieved on a voluntary basis by December.
Bulmers General Manager Paul O'Sullivan said the job cuts were as a result of a change in people's habits in buying less alcohol and opting for off-licence purchases over pubs and bars.
The cost reduction is designed to improve competitiveness and 'to secure the remaining 220 jobs in Clonmel', Mr O'Sullivan said.
