The Dutch government has confirmed that one of its citizens was abducted in the north of Afghanistan and that it was working with the Afghan government to secure his release.
‘I can confirm that today in the north of Afghanistan, a Dutch man and his Afghan driver have been abducted,’ Dutch Foreign Ministry spokesman Christoph Prommersberger said.
‘Our embassy in Kabul is in contact with the Afghan authorities about the case and will give any support to the Afghan authorities to secure his release’ he said.
